Quick answer

Bona Mega ONE is a one-component waterborne finish stocked at JR Hardwood Supplies in Falmouth. No hardener, no pot life, 500 to 600 sq ft per gallon. It is the practical choice on residential work that does not need a two-component finish. Call (508) 524-8957 to confirm sheen.

Where Mega ONE fits

Not every floor needs Traffic HD. Mega ONE is a single-component waterborne finish with high build and no mixing step, and for a good share of residential work on the Cape it is the sensible call. You open the bottle, strain it, and lay it down. Nothing is ticking.

The coverage difference is real. At 500 to 600 square feet per gallon against Traffic HD's 350 to 400, the material cost per floor drops noticeably. Where you give something up is at the top end of abuse resistance and in cure time, five days to full cure against three.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bona Mega ONE in stock in Falmouth?
Yes. JR Hardwood Supplies stocks Bona Mega ONE at 112 Davis Straits, Falmouth, MA as an authorized Bona distributor. Call (508) 524-8957 to confirm sheen and quantity before you drive out.
What is the coverage of Mega ONE?
500 to 600 square feet per gallon per coat, per Bona's US technical data sheet. That is meaningfully more floor per gallon than Traffic HD, which is specified at 350 to 400.
How long does Mega ONE take to dry and cure?
2 to 3 hours between coats under the recommended conditions of 65 to 80°F and 40 to 60 percent relative humidity. Cure is 75 percent at 24 hours and 100 percent at five days.
Mega ONE or Traffic HD?
Mega ONE is one-component, so there is no hardener, no pot life to manage and no mixing window to lose. It covers more per gallon and cures to 100 percent in five days. Traffic HD is two-component, covers less per gallon, must be used within 4 hours of mixing, and fully cures in three days with higher scuff and chemical resistance. Heavy traffic, rentals and commercial work argue for Traffic HD. Straightforward residential work is where Mega ONE earns its place.
Do I need to abrade between coats?
Not unless more than 48 hours have passed since the previous coat. For the smoothest result, Bona still recommends abrading as needed with a Multidisc and 180 to 240 grit.
