Quick answer

Vinyl flooring is available at JR Hardwood Supplies in Falmouth, alongside solid and engineered hardwood. Common choice for rentals, mudrooms, bathrooms and below-grade rooms on the Cape. Delivery across Cape Cod and to the Islands. (508) 524-8957.

Where vinyl earns its place here

Cape Cod puts specific demands on a floor. A summer rental sees sand, salt water, wet towels and a new set of occupants every Saturday from June to September. A basement-level room in a house near the water deals with humidity that wood will not tolerate. Those are the rooms where vinyl is the correct answer, not a compromise.

What we will not do is tell you vinyl is the right choice for a living room in a year-round house where you want real wood. It is not. Come in and describe the rooms and we will give you a room-by-room answer rather than a single product recommendation.

How to check stock

We do not publish a live inventory list, because on a floor covering line it would be wrong within a week. Call (508) 524-8957 and tell us the species, width and quantity you are after. You will get a straight answer about what is here, what we can get, and how long it takes.

“I recently purchased hardwood and vinyl flooring for a home on Martha’s Vineyard. I was 60 miles away and Jr handled everything! Delivered what he promised and kept me updated. Highly recommend.”

Worth asking before you buy

  • Wear layer thickness. This is what determines how the floor survives a rental turnover cycle.
  • How it is installed: click-lock floating, glue-down or loose lay. The subfloor and the room decide this.
  • Whether the room genuinely sees standing water, or just humidity. They are different problems.
  • Whether it needs to sit flush with an adjoining wood floor, which affects the transition detail and sometimes the product.

Metroflor Inception

The waterproof line on display is Metroflor Inception, with the Inception Reserve collection alongside it. Both are rigid core SPC, meaning stone polymer composite rather than foam or flexible vinyl, and that single difference drives most of what makes the product work.

A rigid core does not telegraph subfloor imperfections the way flexible vinyl does, resists denting under furniture legs and appliance feet, and stays dimensionally stable through temperature swings. In a Cape house going from 80 degrees in August to 45 degrees in an unheated February, that stability is not theoretical.

FeatureWhat it means
100 percent waterproofStanding water will not swell or delaminate the plank
PX2 surface protectantWear layer treatment for stain resistance and easier cleaning
Rigid SPC coreSuperior indentation resistance versus flexible LVP or WPC
Registered embossingThe grain you see matches the grain you feel
Pet and family friendlyClaw resistant, spills stay on the surface

Inception Reserve is the upper collection with more pronounced surface texture. Both are in the showroom and the difference is easier to feel than to describe.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell vinyl flooring in Falmouth?
Yes. Vinyl is part of the flooring line at JR Hardwood Supplies, alongside solid and engineered hardwood. Call (508) 524-8957 with the room, the square footage and how the space gets used.
Is vinyl a good choice for a Cape Cod rental?
It is a common one, for reasons that have nothing to do with aesthetics. Summer rentals take beach sand, wet feet and furniture dragged by people who do not own the house. Vinyl handles moisture and turnover abuse in a way wood does not, particularly in entries, mudrooms, bathrooms and basement-level rooms.
Can you deliver vinyl to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket?
Yes, we regularly get flooring to the Islands. One Martha's Vineyard customer bought hardwood and vinyl from sixty miles away and we handled delivery and updates. Call and we will sort the logistics.
Vinyl or engineered hardwood?
Where standing water is a genuine risk, vinyl. Where you want real wood and the subfloor or humidity rules out solid, engineered. In a seasonal property people often run vinyl in the wet and high-traffic rooms and wood in the living space, which is a reasonable compromise rather than a cop-out.
