Why the traditional palette matters here

Cape Cod housing stock skews old, and the color that looks right in a 1920s Falmouth cottage is not the color that looks right in a new build in a Boston suburb. DuraSeal's range covers those warm traditional browns properly. Jacobean and Special Walnut in particular do a lot of work on this peninsula.

The catch with every stain, regardless of brand, is species. Red oak carries a pink undertone that turns cool grays purple. White oak takes gray cleanly. Pine and soft maple absorb unevenly. Test on the actual floor, in a closet or behind a door, and look at it dry.

DuraSeal or Bona for stain?
Both are oil-based penetrating stains with published dry times in the same range. DuraSeal has the wider traditional color palette. Bona DriFast is the cleaner path if your topcoat is a Bona waterborne finish. We stock both, so the choice can be made on the merits.
