Closest professional supplier to the Upper Cape
If you are working in Bourne, Sandwich or Mashpee, the alternative to us is either a big box store that does not carry professional Bona and DuraSeal, or a drive over the bridge. We are usually the shorter trip and always the better product.
Drive times
| From | Approximate drive |
|---|---|
| Mashpee | 15 to 20 minutes |
| Sandwich | 20 to 25 minutes |
| Bourne and Buzzards Bay | 20 to 25 minutes |
| Pocasset and Cataumet | About 15 minutes |
| New Seabury | 15 to 20 minutes |
Summer traffic on Route 28 and around the bridges changes these considerably. Coming before 10am is worth the early start in July and August.
Upper Cape housing
The Upper Cape mixes year-round neighborhoods with seasonal properties, and the two need different answers.
Year-round homes in Sandwich and Bourne hold stable indoor humidity, which makes solid hardwood straightforward and gives the most refinishes over the life of the floor. Seasonal properties in Mashpee and New Seabury that close for winter swing much wider, and engineered flooring handles that better.
Canal area salt exposure
Properties near the canal and along Buzzards Bay get meaningful salt exposure. Not as severe as an oceanfront house on Nantucket, but enough that finish choice matters at entries and on the water side.
Traffic HD is the safe answer where exposure is real. For a protected inland property, Bona HD is often sufficient and easier to apply. See floor finishes.
